Breastfeeding Program
In the event you are breastfeeding, we can provide you with breastfeeding support and assistance. In fact, St. Francis has a full-time internationally-certified lactation consultant on staff to help you with concerns you may have about breastfeeding.
St. Francis is proud to be a Gift (Guided Infant Feeding Techniques) Certified Facility. This certification is from the Louisiana Maternal and Child Health Coalition and the Louisiana Perinatal Commission. St. Francis is the only hospital in Northeast Louisiana with this certification, and one of only 11 hospitals statewide. In order to receive this certification, St. Francis successfully met the criteria as documented through the "Ten Steps to a Healthy, Breastfed Baby." St. Francis received the Golden Gift Breastfeeding Award in recognition of its efforts in protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding as the preferred and normal method of infant feeding.
For information on breastfeeding, breast pump sales/rentals, please call 966-4044.
